Armed guards working in the State of Maryland must complete entry level firearms training (8 hours classroom plus range) in order to apply for an armed permit. The firearms training certificate must accompany your application. The application and instructions for an armed permit can be obtained at any Maryland State Police Barracks. Your application must be signed by the security company you will be working for.

There is currently no requirement for training for Maryland guards who do not carry a firearm.
